Eid Mubarak at Lufbra 2008

View all 6 photos...
This is our 1st Eid as husband and wife. Unlike last year, I couldn't hardly hear the sound of the takbir. It made me cry almost instantly. But this year, although we do feel sad thinking that we couldn't celebrate it with our family, we managed to celebrate the success of fasting in the whole Ramadhan with joy. Thanks to the big family that we have at Lufbra.

Happy 28th Birthday, Mr Muzani....

a gift from edd

He's finally 28! Haha...

Now he can claim himself 'sebaya' or of the same age. I used to tease him before that he was still crying and struggling to move him bottom when I can walk and even trying to run. Our gap was not big, but I make big fuss out of it.

I wanted to take him out for dinner along with our friends. He refused. Instead, he requested a pulut kuning dish along with rendang and sambal tumis ikan bilis. Luckily, my friends volunteered to prepare some of the dish.

I cooked chicken minang rendang while Kak N and Maz cooked pulut kuning and sambal tumis. AS made chinese style fried rice while Eja made puding and Edd contributes fruits that we turned into 'rojak buah' with Mak Bee's rojak paste. Haris bought a delicious chocolate cake to compliment all the dishes.

We started the party with typical birthday celebrations events like, singing birthday song and cutting cake into pieces. We ate while watching CJ-7, a Stephen Chow's latest film and continue eating the food while playing Taboo game which Haris bought.

The game was fun. Although we were short of players of which each team should consists of the same number of players, we played it well nevertheless. The fun part of the game is where the player came across a very difficult word which is challenging to describe in another way. There's some of the similar word that could not be used to describe it. Plus, you need to do it within the hour glass time.

We stopped after the clock showed 10+pm. Only then we stopped as most of us need to get up to work the following day.

To all of my friends,
Maz & Dino, Kak N, As, Edd & Eja and last but not least, Haris, me and Muzani thank you all for making the night and the event meaningful and memorable.

Celebrating his Master's degree convocation ceremony

interframe, nature's beauty

View all 12 photos...
It's the day of award of Loughborough University. Some of our Malaysian friends celebrates their graduation day. Mostly undergraduates who pursued MEng (Master of engineering).

He couldn't attend his convocation day back in 2005. Of course, the expense to attend the award was way expensive for us, an ordinary monthly earning lecturer. When asked, why didn't he attend the ceremony held at Singapore in 2006, he told me the 'feeling' will not be the same. I think I understand why as the environment will not be the same as the one held at Singapore was done in a hotel.

He didn't think of borrowing the robes from our friends last year as some of our friends in Loughborough did. I think he must've not think about it until I recently applied to attend my graduation ceremony with UCL this year in September. He applied to Loughborough but was declined as he has graduated more than 3 years.

And so, we made arrangements, Taufik Kaka agreed to lend his robe to him, and with the robe, we took his studio photo which costs him 26pd and additional 20pd for family portrait. Additional 4pd for postage within UK area. All in all, it costs us 50pd for the lot. But, trust me, it is worth it. It's a symbol of achievements and of course, as mementos for our future generations.

Here are some of the photos taken.

p/s: we do hope that we both will have the chance to attend our PhD's convocation ceremony when both finish it. Amin.

Sek Men Senawang batch 1997 gathering

Harinder, groom to be
yasmin, married to MAS's pilot
View all 12 photos...
This event was made possible with the kind effort of Vijayan. He took the initiative to invite most of our friend and even managed to came out with some sort of contact database consisting of latest contact numbers and address of us, mostly from 5 Arif, Bestari and Cerdas of Class 1997.

Some have managed to turn up and made the event memorable. It is of course as most of us has not been seeing or heard of each other for almost 10 years. It was a pot luck get together. With most of us took part in contributing the dishes. And I am very glad to have friends whose very supportive and respects my belief as the halal issue was mentioned earlier on. Also, in return, I am glad to prepare the meehun and fried rice for my vegan Indian friends.

Mrs Marie turn up. We both overdressed for the occasion as most of the boys (*sigh* I wonder when can I really see them dress up) wears casual. Feeling slightly shy, we both choose to ignore our 'difference in appearance' and enjoy the meals instead.

Looking at my friends, it's amazing to see the variety of occupations they're holding. From teachers, engineers, senior executive, sales executive, entrepreneur, actor, a politician secretary and finally, a pilot. Wow, I must say that I am impressed with our bacth. From an ordinary government secondary school, they have managed to earn top quality occupations and of of course, good income.

Some of us even works abroad. The one that I knows are Siu Siong and Lee Lan, both working in London and Noeline Wong whose working in Nigeria. She will tie the knot sometime in October (if I'm not msitaken). By the way, Harinder too is getting married in August, to readers, he's the tallest among us.

I am glad that I was back in Malaysia for the event. Hope to see you guys real soon. Best friends are like diamonds. You need to polish it to maintain its shine.

Three celebrations at Hayward Avenue

A friend of us from Edinburgh came over stopping by before proceeding to London. We decided to give them some treat and decided to invite Ena and Arif's family as they will be leaving Loughborough for good next week. The last family was Kak Azlina and Awie, a new neighbour of us who recently arrived and is now staying at Ella and Eiri's former house.

The plan to invite them was made for ages but could not be materialised as we been quite busy. Additionally, we've been wanting to invite Ena and Arif & Co, but was bogged down with our routines.

Alhamdulillah, we managed to held the gathering of welcome for both Kak Azlina's & Co and En Yahya's & Co and bid our farewell to Ena & Arif and Co.

A day trip to Fort William and Loch Ness

View all 17 photos...
The trip started as early as 5am in the morning. We were from Edinburgh, currie to be exact. We took out the route via Forth Bridge, Scotland's most famous bridge in history.

Stopped by at Queensferry, to capture the bridge's view and head straight north. We chose the route nearest to Fort William via M90 to A9 heading for A889. From there, we head south to A86. At the end of A86, there's a T-junction. We went up north first heading for Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle by taking route A82. The journey from Currie, Edinburgh to Urquhart took about 31/2 hour. Along the route, there's a lot of Scotland's attractions.

One of the most memorable place is the Fort Augustus near the Caledonian Canal. There's this interesting canal technology where the boats being transferred from Loch Ness to the canal via staggered canal sections. The canal will be filled by water to a level similar to the precedent sections to travel the boats to the next section. Water will be released by the water gate slowly and the owner of the boats needs to pull their boat using a rope from the bank of the canal to another section of the canal. There is also a swing bridges near the Loch Oich and Fort Augustus.

Other than that, there is this Monessie Falls which view is breathtaking. Its just as beautiful as those shown in the calender. And it is a national forest treasure of the Scotland. Just after the falls, there is a 'miniature castle' as how I would call it due to its small size but the building is beautiful. I believe its a guard house to a private mansion.

Additionally, there is a Commando Memorial near Stronoba just beside the roadside. A place not to be missed, plus it a free entry.

After we've done visiting the Urquhart Castle and the Loch Ness, we head south taking the same route as before for Fort Williams. The journey took about 1hour at 60mph. We stop by at an unexpected stop near the Wells of the Seven Heads. There you can stand near the Loch Oich's bank and experience another breath taking views and touch the water. Unlike at Loch Ness, the cliff are high and it's quite difficult for you to go near the water.

Wev reached Fort William and was welcomed by a road construction. We waited for about 20 minutes for the traffic to be clear. we stopped by at a castle named Inverloch castle. It has ruined down but is still preserved by the Scottish. The best part is it free entry. By the way, for those who travel by car, there's a nearby gas stations that sells cheap gas as compared to other area in Fort William. I know for sure that I could not say that the gas is cheap as the price has gone up recently.

Later, there is this place for those who likes skating known as Nevis Range Ski Centre. Due to the time constraints, we skipped the place and head for Fort William town. There is also the famous Ben Nevis Distillery Visitor Centre as well as the West Highland Museum near the Achintee. For those who likes to travel more, you can reach Oban, another tourist attractions in Scotland from Fort William. We didn't have enough time so back we went to Edinburgh.

His paper presentation at CIBW070 Heriot-Watt University

us with Prof Peter

I took the opportunity to attend his conference at Heriott-Watt University, Edinburgh. The trip to Edinburgh is not my 1st time, as I have visited it last 4 years back.

The conference is held every 2 years, specialising the Facilities Management Area. Last 2 years, it was held at Norway, next session. in 2010, it will be held at Sao Polo, Brazil. I wish he'll send another paper so that I could take the opportunity to visit Brazil.

His presentation falls on the 2nd day of the conference titled The Potential of Knowledge Management Processes For Facilitating PFI projects. I attended most of the presentation. Although it's quite different from my research area, it gives me an opportunity to refresh and strengthen my understandings on facilities management. Furthermore, it is not a sin to learn other people's area of knowledge. Additionally, I did my Master project on FM back in 2004 at UCL. Hence, it is not at all a new knowledge for me. I was even surpised to find some Malaysians whom has reffered to my paper I presented at Bung Hatta Conference, at Padang in 2006. Well, well, this conference certainly is worth attending.

I was delighted to see the faces of the people who writes the paper which I have referred back in 2004. The momentos will always be remembered. I have had the opportunity to took photos with the famous Prof Peter Barret. And also, there's Dr Edward Finch, Prof Michael Okoroh, Prof Michael Pitt, Igal Shohet, Dr Rita Newton and many more.

Here are some of the photos I managed to capture during the conference.

Our Trip to Paris

View all 32 photos...
He promised a trip to breakaway from our research. And so to Paris we went, for 4 days. The trip, despite being my second, was very meaningful.

There isn't much change as compared to my last visit in 2004. The Disneyland Paris however, has built another ride known as Space Mountain 2. I did not try it out. The memory of the Space Mountain ride in 2004 was too terrifying.

The Disney Village has expanded. There are lots of new shop and a very big M restaurants. And to my Muslim friends, there even serve halal kebab.

Will update more information on where and how to get to tourists attraction and few tips on Paris travelling.

The preparations for our wedding was done by our families in Malaysia. Unlike those who have their sweet moment preparing and choosing the outfit for the big day, we just pick up the one that's available and suit us both. How pathetic. But the big kudos to our family whose been willing to sacrifice their time and of course money to make the occasion memorable.

I have hundreds of wedding cards left. As most of my contact addresses was left in my office at JB, my families couldn't mail it. Fortunately, my husband managed to ask his sister to scan and email the card. Mine was left undistributed. As the consequence, most of our friends thought that they've been forgotten. No many dear friends, please forgive us both, as we don't have the luxury of time to plan the wedding ourselves.
And to my SMS's friends, the signages you saw were meant for you.

Many was surprised with the wedding. Yeah, we didn't it's going to happen. But I always beleive, 'jodoh dan pertemuan itu ketentuan Ilahi". And I was right to choose him. The guy whose been around for me, right in front of my very own eyes that I did not treasure before. And now, he's mine. Alhamdulillah.

We had 4 weeks off for the wedding. The 1st week we touched down from Heathrow was occupied with a conference presentation. I know this must sound odd, but I like to make full use of my presence in Malaysia and it happen to be 1 week before the wedding. My mum scolded me for that. There's too many unfinished business left unattended.

The 2nd week was the wedding at Senawang. Solemnization and wedding all in 1 day. Very tiring and most of my families did not sleep the night before. And yet we managed to pose the smile. The make-up, in my perspective was awful. It's too heavy. I had to scrub my face to take it out. And the dress is quite heavy and hot to be worn in a daylight especially in the noon. My, am glad it's over. Alhamdulillah. About 1500 came on that day, mostly my parent's friends and relatives. Am glad that most of our collegues from UTM managed to came. Thank you so much guys. Really appreciate it.

The following week is Eid Adha's celebrations. It was our 1st Eid as husband and wife. At the end of the week is Penang's reception. And I stayed 1 week there, to get to know my in-laws. It was fun and I really enjoy the food. Yummy!!

Before we realise, it's coming to the end of our short break. Time to go 'home' to UK. The unfinish business of ours. InsyaAllah, God's will, we will pursued our aim. Amin ya rabbal alamin.

There goes our time in Malaysia.

Dh lupe kt kitorg ek... slamat myza inf... anyway
'selamat pengantin baru' moga kekal ke akhir hayat...
hope cepat2 dpt baby... myza dh 2.. saye dh nk masuk 3....

2 Birthday Parties in a day

View all 8 photos...
An extraordinary day, two birthdays in a day. The 1st I attended was Munif Afifi's birthday. Son of Sarajul and Kak Siti, he celebrated his 2 years old in a momentous party. Many has turn up. The curry mee was superb. Thanks to Kak Siti and Sarajul for inviting us over.

Later in the day, we went to Edd's house to celebrate her birthday. Her housemates, Eija, Mahmud and Salami has prepared middle east food. The food was fantastic, especially when it was prepared by a man. How impressive.
